2017 Charity Golf Cup

On 14 April the 2017 ECCT-ICRT International Charity Golf Cup was held for the 14th consecutive year in support of the Community Services Center (CSC), a non-profit organization that offers counselling, information and support services to the international community in Taiwan. As in previous years, the tournament was co-hosted by the ECCT and International Community Radio Taipei (ICRT).

As usual, the event provided a perfect opportunity for Taipei's best amateur golfers to show off their golfing skills and support a good cause at the same time. Once again, the tournament was held at Royal Kuan Hsi Golf Club in Hsinchu County, the venue of the first charity cup and many since then.

11 teams comprising ECCT members and supporters of the international community took a morning off work to support the event. Thanks to some generous sponsors, players were well taken care of throughout the day, starting with a complimentary breakfast and goodie bags before the game, a drinks tent on the first tee, more drinks at the 19th hole and a lavish banquet and prize giving ceremony to bring an end to a perfect day.

At the lunch banquet, ECCT Chairman Håkan Cervell took to the stage together with ICRT CEO Tim Berge, Ryan Searle (representing Audi, the main sponsor) and ECCT CEO Freddie Höglund to present a cheque to Adam McMillan, Director of the CSC. McMillan went on to thank the sponsors, organisers and players for their support. Then it was time for the prize-giving ceremony.

The team from Covestro took the first prize with a gross score of 60 and a net score of 49. It was the third time that a team from Covestro (part of the Bayer group) has taken the top spot in recent years after wins in 2012 and 2015. The team from the ACC took second spot while Evonik came in third.

The team from ICRT took the prize for the most golf for a record fourth time this year, carding a gross score of 102, a full 28 strokes more than next highest gross score. At the banquet prizes were awarded to the best teams, longest drives and nearest the pins.
