The European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) today announced that Giuseppe Izzo, Managing Director, Taiwan & Vice President, Asia Pacific Region for STMicroelectronics Ltd. will serve as chairman of the ECCT’s board of directors in 2023.  Giuseppe Izzo was elected to serve as chairman for a one-year term by the new board of directors at their first meeting following the chamber’s Annual General Meeting (AGM) today. The 2023 boards of 15 directors and 5 supervisors were voted into office at today’s AGM by ECCT members (please see below for a full list of directors and supervisors).

In its annual report to members at today’s AGM, outgoing Chairman H Henry Chang reported that 2022 was successful year for the chamber, despite the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic. The chamber engaged frequently with government ministries and agencies throughout the year, helping to further promote members’ business interests. Membership continued to increase to a new record high of over 1,040 individuals and the quality and participation at events remained exceptionally high. A number of successful events were held and, in terms of advocacy, the chamber achieved progress on over 21% of the issues raised in its 2022 Position Papers.

The ECCT was extremely active during the year, holding its flagship Europe Day Dinner with President Tsai and several high profile events featuring prominent local and international speakers, including the 2022 Europe-Taiwan Financial Services Forum, the 2022 EU-Taiwan Electric Vehicle Conference and the 2022 Global Offshore Wind Summit. All events received positive reviews from members. ECCT members and the secretariat also arranged or participated in numerous conferences, seminars, and forums in conjunction with government agencies.

About the ECCT
With over US$66.9 billion in direct foreign investments, European businesses are collectively the largest group of foreign investors in Taiwan. The European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan is the principal organisation representing and promoting European business interests in Taiwan. The chamber represents over 1,000 members from over 430 companies and organisations. Through a network of 30 industry and support committees, the ECCT has been successful in addressing specific concerns and providing concrete recommendations to all levels of government to facilitate improving the business environment. The ECCT produces annual position papers that comprise issues identified by its committees as hindering the further development of their respective industries and provide recommendations to the government of Taiwan for improvement of the business environment on general issues as well as industry-specific problems. They also serve to keep the European Commission and parliament as well as the governments of individual European countries informed about Taiwan’s business environment.

歐洲商會年度大會 宣布 2023 年理事長、理監事

歐洲在臺商務協會（ECCT，以下簡稱歐洲商會）今日宣布，年度大會（AGM）投票結果出爐，2023年將由尹容 (Giuseppe Izzo)，香港商意法半導體股份有限公司台灣分公司　總經理暨副總裁，接任歐洲商會理事長，任期為一年，並選出2023年理事會之15位理事及5位監事（理監事完整名單請參見下表）。

卸任理事長張瀚書於今日年度大會上指出，今年歐洲商會與政府各部會及單位密切互動，積極促進商會成員的商業權益，成員人數持續增長，目前已達到1,040人，創下歷史新高。商會今年亦舉辦了多項活動，會員踴躍參與率與活動品質有口皆碑。在政策倡議方面，2022年建議書中列舉之議題，超過21%有所進展。即便受到新冠肺炎疫情的衝擊，2022年對歐洲商會來說，仍是成功的一年。

歐洲商會今年十分活躍，不僅邀請蔡英文總統參加「2022歐洲日晚宴」，更舉辦了多場高規格活動，邀請台灣及國際的知名講者共襄盛舉，包括2022年歐洲–台灣金融服務論壇、2022台歐盟電動車論壇，以及2022 全球離岸風電產業高峰會。歐洲商會亦與各政府單位，共同籌辦並參加多場會議、研討會及論壇，深獲會員們的高度讚賞與評價。

關於歐洲在臺商務協會
歐洲企業一直是臺灣最主要的外商投資來源，其直接投資規模約669億美元。歐洲在臺商務協會 (歐洲商會) 的創建宗旨，在於促進歐洲企業在臺之權益。歐洲商會的會員約有1000位，分別來自420家公司與機構。透過30個產業與特別委員會形成的關係網，歐洲商會已成功因應不同產業的特殊議題，為各級政府提供改善臺灣經商環境的具體建言。歐洲商會每年均提出一系列的建議書，內容涵蓋各委員會提出有礙自身產業進一步發展的議題，亦針對一般議題與各產業的特有問題，向臺灣政府提出多項改善經商環境的建言。建議書亦協助歐洲執行委員會、歐洲議會與歐盟各會員國政府瞭解臺灣的經商環境。
