The 13th Asia Offshore Wind Day, hosted at Le Meridien Hotel in Taipei, gathered prominent industry figures to discuss Taiwan’s evolving offshore wind sector and Asia’s role in the global market. Key sessions covered policy, market updates, regulatory and financing challenges, project development, and innovations in wind technology.
The day began with remarks from Edgare Kerkwijk (Asia Wind Energy Association), followed by speeches from the Belgian Office in Taipei Representative Matthieu Branders and ECCT Low Carbon Initiative Chair H. Henry Chang. Dr Chen Chung-Hsien from Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs outlined Taiwan's offshore wind policies, and Irfan Choudry (S&P Global) provided a global market outlook. Umang Mehrotra (Rystad Energy) shared insights into APAC’s offshore wind opportunities, followed by a session from Joris Hol (COP) on the Zhong Neng Offshore Wind Project. Andreas Munk-Janson (Ørsted APAC) and Gero Tschierschke (Siemens Gamesa) further discussed Taiwan’s offshore operations.
