ECCT LCI Meeting - Meeting with Energy Administration on Geothermal Energy

The ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) organised a meeting with the Energy Administration (EA, under the Ministry of Economic Affairs) to discuss geothermal energy in Taiwan. The meeting brought together a delegation of industry leaders, including representatives from CPC Corporation Taiwan, Baseload Power Taiwan, ERM Taiwan, and Veolia Taiwan. The meeting focused on accelerating Taiwan’s geothermal energy development and addressing key challenges in the sector.

During the meeting, CPC Corporation shared insights on the challenges and opportunities in deep geothermal development. Baseload Power Taiwan presented strategies to scale up geothermal energy in Taiwan. ERM Taiwan highlighted the environmental and social considerations in geothermal projects, while Veolia Taiwan showcased the application of ground source heat pump technology for geothermal energy.

These exchanges are aimed at setting the stage for future collaboration between government and industry, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing geothermal energy in Taiwan.
