The ECCT’s Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) together with the Global Wind Energy Council (GWEC) arranged a virtual meeting with senior officials from the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Bureau of Energy (BOE) and Industrial Development Bureau (IDB) to discuss ongoing developments in Taiwan’s wind energy sector on 28 July. The meeting was opened with remarks by ECCT CEO Freddie Höglund. This was followed by presentations by Lee Chun-li, Deputy Director-General, BOE (李君禮 副局長), Yang Chih-ching, Deputy Director-General, IDB (楊志清 副局長) and Alastair Dutton, Chair, Offshore Taskforce, GWEC. This was followed by a Q&A session moderated by Alastair Dutton. This virtual meeting was attended delegates of 35 personnel.

In their presentations Deputy Directors General Lee and Yang gave an overview of phase 3 zonal offshore wind farm development plans. In his presentation Alastair Dutton outlined some industry concerns and shared some best practices from Europe.
