The ECCT’s Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) arranged an online workshop together with Taiwan Power Company (Taipower) on the topic of “Risk Management of Power Grid, Transmission, and Storage”. The event was the 9th in a series of workshops with Taipower and the first of 2023 and a follow-up to an event held last year between the Taipower Research Institute (TPRI) and the LCI on the topic of risk control in the development of power distribution systems.

The event began with opening remarks by Dr Chung Nien-Mien, General Manager, TPRI, Taipower (台電綜合研究所所長 鍾年勉) and LCI Chair H Henry Chang (歐洲商會-低碳倡議行動 主席 張瀚書).

This was followed by presentations from four speakers and a panel discussion. James Chiang, Industry Solution Architect, AWS (蔣宗恩/ 亞馬遜網路服務公司 行業專家解決方案架構師) gave a presentation on the topic “Cloud-driven digital transformation and resilience enhancement in energy industry” (數位驅動能源行業轉型與增強韌性). Kai Wang, Representative from Hitachi Energy Taiwan (王建凱/ 台灣日立永續能源業務發展顧問) gave a presentation on the topic “Microgrids+ virtual power plant applications to enhance grids resilience” (打造零碳電力系統，提升能源系統韌性).  Antoine THOMACHOT, Digital Grid Sales Head APAC, from Schneider Electric gave a presentation on the topic “Risk-Based Asset Maintenance & Investment Planning: Balancing Risks, Costs & Performance at Asset Portfolio Advisor”. Sarah Westenberger, Business Development Manager from Aggreko (黎甦秘/ 英商亞力克公司事業開發經理) gave a presentation on the topic “Renewables & flexible power: Battery, Bio-diesel & Ultra-low emissions package” (可再生能源和靈活能源：電池、生物柴油和超低排放包).
