On 14  Sept., the final workshop of U20 International Youth Forum - Sustainable Energy Workshop was held at TAIPOWER D/S ONE, where 5 youth groups showcased innovative green energy projects incorporating biomaterials, fish movement, and ocean waves, dancing and art, and etc. These action plans inspired the audience to think out of the box.

Director Yuan Meiling from Taipower Public Relations Department warmly welcomed all the participants to D/S ONE to learn about Taipower’s dedication to achieving sustainable energy.

The Chief Curator of D/S ONE  Hsu Yukuei shared Taipower's sustainable vision and gave the inspirations and creative thinking in renewable energy and design art through interactive exhibitions at D/S ONE.

Taipower is aiming to replace the usage of nuclear power, fuel oil, and coal by replacing it with renewable energy and natural gas. The energy source proportion of renewable energy will approximately increase from 6% in 2019 to 20% in 2025, and the usage of natural gas will increase by 12% in 2025 compared to 2019. Taipower is committed to developing power generation with solar energy, wind energy, hydro energy, and biogas energy.

Remi Lee, Chief Sustainability Officer and Spokesman of  TCI CO., Ltd, one of the guest trainers to share the TCI's actions on sustainable energy and green environment, giving guidance and encouragement to the participants. Sammy Su, Director of ECCT Low Carbon Initiative, as a guest evaluator, shared experience in sustainability and encourage the young participants by giving insight and recommendations.

The TAIPOWER D/S ONE  was opened at the end of 2019, aiming to promote green and sustainable energy through experiential learning in the field of education, art, technology, and humanities.  Whether it is the ‘self-generated’ energy in ENERGYM, or energy-inspired contemporary art at D/S ONE GALLERY, and co-working space POWERLAB.

The U20 International Youth Forum, organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) Center for Global Affairs and Science Engagement (GASE) and CommonWealth Magazine, supported by the ECCT Low Carbon Initiative (ECCT LCI), will debut on 28 October, inviting young talents aged 12-30, passionate about three topics: Climate Change and Sustainability, Sustainable Green Energy, and Plastic and Waste Reduction to share their action plans on sustainability.
