The "2014 EU-TW Food Safety Seminar" has been arranged to examine the international trend towards a horizontal regulatory framework for food safety and to establish an effective post-market surveillance mechanism. The seminar's organisers have invited European Commission authorities, EU member state experts, TFDA authorities, and European and Taiwanese representatives of industry and academia to attend. Among other subjects, the seminar will introduce: European countries' regulatory practices on market surveillance, labelling, and consumer protection; food safety crisis management communication in the EU; and international food safety and related standards (Codex Alimentarius) and best practices. Through in-depth discussion among industry, government, and academic representatives, the seminar aims to facilitate the harmonization of Taiwan's regulatory standards with international standards and practices, share best practices on enforcing standards among all stakeholders and thus ensure the safety and protection of consumers.
