The Rhone Valley is a well-known wine producing area of Southern France with over 6,000 wine growing properties including 1,837 private wineries and 103 cooperatives. Wine production of the area is second only to Bordeaux and Burgundy. The Rhone is generally divided into two sub-regions with distinct vinicultural traditions. The Northern Rhone sub-region produces red wines from the Syrah grape. The southern sub-region produces an array of red, white and the unique rose wines, often blends of several grapes such as in the famous appellation, Chateauneuf-du-Pape.  This evening we'll select wines from the Southern Rhone sub-region for the guests to experience the Mediterranean character and the fresh herb taste.

About Bistro Le Jardin
Le Jardin, which means garden in French, is aptly named. The fine dining on offer is especially enjoyable given the Eden-like setting - potted plants and flowers help "spice" up the decor. Picture an elegant, yet warm, dining room in a private Provencale villa in all of its understated luxury, which is so characteristic of southern France. Opened in 2001 in Taipei's Tianmu district, the restaurant specializes in southern French Cuisine. It received the Best Award of Excellence in 2017 in the Restaurant Wine List Awards by Wine Spectator.

The evening will be hosted by Carlos Chen, who is the Sommelier & Manager of Bistro Le Jardin and Sommelier Consultant of the Regent Hotel Taipei. He holds an ASI International Sommelier Diploma from the Association de la Sommellerie Internationale and was the 1st Runner Up in the Asia Best Sommelier Competition in French Wines in 2016 (by SOPEXA).
