The ECCT's CSR committee has long been concerned with and supported the CSR development of member companies in Taiwan. For the second consecutive year, the committee has invited CommonWealth Magazine to present the results of its 2017 Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility rankings and CSR index. At the event, the speaker will give a summary of the results with a special focus on the CSR programmes of foreign enterprises in Taiwan.
CommonWealth Magazine has been promoting the concept of CSR since 1996 and been running its Excellence in CSR programme for 11 years. Its methodology draws on international standards and trends from the United Nations, the OECD, the Dow Jones Sustainability Index and other internationally-based indicators to assess corporate governance, corporate commitment, community involvement and environmental protection, among other factors. The list of companies covered has grown from the top 50 (30 large enterprises, 10 medium-sized enterprises and 10 foreign enterprise) to the top 100 (50 large enterprise, 15 medium-sized enterprises, 15 foreign enterprises and 20 "little giants").
In his presentation the speaker will cover the following topics:
- CSR trends of businesses in Taiwan
- Factors and methodology for selecting and ranking companies' CSR programmes
- What can be learnt from the CSR programmes of foreign enterprises doing business in Taiwan
- Ranking of the top 15 foreign enterprises in Taiwan, sharing of their best practices and examples of their CSR programmes.
About the speaker
Jimmy Hsiung is an editor, writer and Supervisor of the Survey Center of Commonwealth Magazine, responsible for all surveys conducted by Commonwealth Magazine, CHEERS, Common Health Magazine and Education on subjects including CSR, parenting, family and lifestyle. He has been working in Commonwealth Magazine for more than 10 years. He has received the following awards: Excellent Journalism Award; Golden Tripod Awards for Publications; Cross-Strait Relations and Mainland News Reporting Award and Golden Book Awards (2015). He holds a bachelor's degree in journalism from National Chengchi University.
