As part of their CSR initiatives, many corporations are willing to work with non-profit organisations and charities. However, they may not be aware of the way these institutions operate and the variety of ways to help them, besides giving donations. This event has been arranged to hear first hand how some of Taiwan's most reputable foundations are run and the most effective ways for corporations to help them and, at the same time, achieve their own social responsibility goals. The event will feature short introductions by each of the charities, which will be followed by a panel discussion to be moderated by chairpersons of the CSR committee.

About the charities:
The "Children Are Us Foundation" was founded by a group of parents whose children had mental disabilities. The foundation helps to provide lifelong care and education. Service Agents are established in Taipei, New Taipei, Hsinchu and Kaohsiung. One of the charity's main initiatives is the Children Are Us bakery, restaurant and factory", which has become a model social enterprise in Taiwan. With professional physiotherapy and work guides, the charity helps to improve the intelligence and physical capabilities of people in their care, promoting their ability to work, encouraging them to be independent and helping them find a meaningful place in society.

The "Garden of Hope Foundation" is a non-government, non-profit group established in 1988 to help and empower disadvantaged girls and young women. In particular, the foundation helps girls caught in the sex industry, victims of sexual abuse and family violence. From one halfway house, the foundation's services have grown to include shelters and service centres island-wide that provide everything from counseling and temporary housing, to employment training, social work and legal aid. This includes outreach programs for "at-risk" teenagers, services for immigrant spouses and family counseling. The Garden of Hope contributes to research and government discussions on policy. This has included several key laws involving child welfare and women's rights. The focus is on empowering girls and young women so that they can realize their full potential and take charge of their lives.

The Society of Wilderness (SOW) is dedicated to protect wild lands, allowing nature to manage and revive itself, by obtaining guardianship and  managing authorities of wilderness areas through means of purchases, long term leases, and funding from commissions and donations. To purposefully set aside wild lands and preserve nature in its original state for present and future generations to explore and be enlightened by the wonders of life. We act to involve every person in society to participate in protection and conservation of wilderness areas in Taiwan and all over the world by re-connecting people with nature and by nature education
