ECCT Customs & Logistics Committee Meeting

Visit to Customs Administration

All ECCT members are cordially invited to attend a specially-arranged meeting with the Director General and other senior officials from the Customs Administration. The meeting will provide an excellent opportunity for members to exchange views and discuss any issues they may have regarding customs procedures for imported and exported goods directly with senior Customs officials. Members in the automotive, retail, luxury goods, transportation and logistics industries who have dealings with the Customs Administration are urged to take advantage of this rare opportunity and register for this event in advance.

This is the first meeting with government arranged by the newly-launched Customs and Logistics committee. The new committee was formed following the decision by ECCT members in the formerly separate Customs and Maritime committees to merge their two committees in order to bring together logistics, transportation and shipping companies under the same broad umbrella. By combining their efforts, members of the new committee believe they can be more effective in addressing and resolving their issues. The new committee addresses issues related to customs' procedures, administration and transportation facing companies engaged in shipping, air, road and rail transportation and logistics. It will raise issues that affect the Automotive, Retail and Distribution, Luxury Goods and Intellectual Property Rights committees.

Among other issues to be raised at this meeting will include the following:

• Power of Attorney (PoA) requirements for import clearance and household goods
• The effectiveness of the "Single Window" customs clearance platform and processes
• The acceptance of carnets including ATA (Admission Temporaire/Temporary Admission) carnet and CPD (Carnet de Passages en Douane).
• Creating a single platform and communication channel that integrates all procedures of importation between Customs, the Bureau of Standards, Metrology and Inspection (BSMI), the Taiwan Food and Drug Administration (TFDA) and industry players in order to establish common understanding and agreement about the classification of tariff codes of product categories.
