Education technology is taking off globally. Significant investments are being made in new platforms that will transform the classroom and adult education. Technology offers ways for students to learn at their own pace. It offers ways for teachers to mark their students' work much more efficiently and also ways for parents to be brought into the loop without taking up the teacher's time. Individualization of the learning process can be achieved while making more time available for teachers to teach. Venture capital companies, governments and charitable foundations are making significant investments in new products. This presentation will review where the funds have been invested, by whom and what sort of products are getting traction. There are opportunities for companies in Taiwan to engage in this global marketplace.

About the speaker
Peter Sutton is Co-Founder and CEO of Woodpecker Learning (Taiwan) Limited, a company which produces software for the global educational sector with a focus on language learning. Prior to that he was Head of Research for CLSA writing about social, economic and financial issues in Taiwan. He has lived in Taiwan for the last 14 years and was previously a director of the ECCT. Woodpecker Learning has launched its iOS App and will shortly launch its Android App for learners of English and Chinese. These products will shortly support French, German, Spanish and Japanese.
