The European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT) and National Cheng Kung University (NCKU) will organise the 2021 Tainan Low Carbon City Conference on 21 December at the NCKU Future Hall. The conference has been arranged for the eighth consecutive year by the ECCT’s Low Carbon Initiative (LCI) and the NCKU in conjunction with the Tainan City Government and the Shalun Industry Alliance (SIA).

The theme of this year’s conference is Public-Private Academic Partnerships (PPAP) for Sustainable Future and will feature a presentation by Tainan Mayor Huang on sustainable development in Tainan and speakers and panellists from the ECCT, NCKU and SIA to discuss topics related to reaching net zero greenhouse gas emissions, including energy efficiency in industry, a carbon negative demonstration plant, green hydrogen, and sustainable semiconductor manufacturing. Other topics on the agenda include biomedical and talent development. The conference will include a panel discussion on how to develop sustainable supply chains featuring representatives from leading European companies in Taiwan. As well as executive speakers from ECCT include Mr. Giuseppe Izzo, MD & VP of STMicroelectronics, Dr. John Lee, Chairman of Merck Taiwan, Michael Li, Vice president of  Air Liquide, and Hsu Wei-Chou, Vice-Dean, NCKU Academy of Innovation Semiconductor and Sustainable Manufacturing.
