This year's ECCT Gala Ball celebrates the world famous Moulin Rouge cabaret venue and night club which opened in the Montmartre district of Paris 1889. The Moulin Rouge provided a vibrant, exciting and somewhat seedy venue where people from all walks of life - rich, famous and artistic - could mingle with workers, bohemians, courtesans and gangsters. Moulin Rouge is the spiritual birthplace of the modern form of the can-can dance, which subsequently grew in popularity and led to the introduction of cabarets across Europe. The Moulin Rouge was the inspiration for the eponymous critically-acclaimed 2001 dramatical musical movie directed by Baz Luhrmann, which won multiple awards including Oscars for best art direction and costume design.
Take a journey with us back to the era known as the Belle Epoque, when France was at peace, a century was coming to an end, creativity was blooming and people were filled with the joys of life.
It will be an evening of exciting and colourful performances, lively music and exquisite cuisine. The menu and beverages will have an artistic French theme. Dinner will be served and enjoyed at a quiet, leisurely pace before the bright lights are turned on, the volume is turned up and the venue is transformed into a 19th Century Paris cabaret dance hall with a modern musical twist.
As in previous years, this year's ball will include popular and exciting features including: gaming for chocolate euros, make-up counters and the Taiwan Tatler Magazine photo booth to make everyone a celebrity for the night.
With an exceptional line-up of entertainment, music, wining and dining, it promises to be an exciting evening.
