The British electorate has voted in favour of leaving the European Union, but what does this actually mean? At this event our speaker will provide a synopsis of major global macro-economic trends and an outlook for the global economy in 2017. In addition, he will look at the possible new rules for UK-EU relations, and analyse as well what impact the decision could have on the remaining 27 members of the EU. He will also look at the implications for growth in the UK, in Europe, and in the rest of the world, and analyse how financial assets might move over the medium term in response to Brexit.
About the speaker
Guy Stear is responsible for Corporate Credit Research and Emerging Market Strategy at Societe Generale Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB). In this role he works with two teams: one which covers emerging forex, rates and both local and hard currency bonds across Eastern Europe, Asia and Latam; and a second which makes investment recommendations on both investment grade and high yield bonds in developed and emerging markets from a top-down and bottom-up perspective. Both universes are driven by the need to generate higher returns than in developed markets by taking different risks. Stear has worked at Societe Generale since 2002, and his previous roles include Head of Research, Asia (based in Hong Kong) and Head of Credit Research. Prior to joining Societe Generale, he worked in the equity, government bond and forex markets in both research and sales. He has an MBA from Insead, a BSFS from Georgetown University, is a CFA charter holder and passed the Certificate in Quantitative Finance.
