12:00 - 14:00, Tuesday, 13 October, 2015

111 Min Sheng E. Road, Sec 3, Taipei /台北市民生東路三段111號

The global economy is facing severe headwinds as several of the world's largest emerging economies are experiencing slower growth this year, including China, which has been a major engine of global growth, especially since the global financial crisis. In an attempt to address a series of negative economic performance indicators, including several months of declining exports and purchasing managers index readings of well below 50, Chinese authorities have devalued the renminbi and implemented back to back interest rate and reserve-requirement ratio cuts. Authorities across the globe are worrying about the impact of an anticipated hike in interest rates by the US Federal Reserve (Fed) while seeking any additional ways to stimulate their economies.

Our special guest speaker will provide an analysis of current global economic conditions and an outlook for financial markets in 2016, with a special focus on China under its evolving policy framework, the strengthening US recovery and its implications for financial markets, and look at why economies in Asia do not appear to be benefiting from the factors that were expected to boost growth this year, and what this tells us about 2016?
