As part of the ECCT's mission to build relations with local governments all across Taiwan since becoming a nationwide association, the ECCT's first Premium Event of 2016 will be round table lunch with Taoyuan Mayor Cheng Wen-tsan and senior government officials from the Taoyuan City Government.

Taoyuan is one of Taiwan's most dynamic and prosperous metropolitan areas. As home to Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport (TTIA), Taoyuan is the gateway to Taiwan for 10 million foreign visitors every year. It is also the location of Taiwan's largest and most extensive industrial base covering multiple industries and including numerous industrial parks and corporate headquarters. Both of Taiwan's largest airlines have their headquarters in Taoyuan County along with airline maintenance companies, automotive manufacturers, chemical, high tech, logistics, and other service companies. With extensive development plans including the imminent opening of the airport MRT, construction of a third terminal, runway and industry park at TTIA, there are numerous potential business opportunities for companies in the airline, automotive, financial, tourism, retail, luxury goods, hospitality, property development, logistics and transport sectors, to name just a few.

The event will be open only to ECCT members. Besides a speech by Mayor Cheng, the event will also feature presentations by ECCT Travel & Tourism committee Co-chair Daver Lau, Better Living committee Co-chair Tim Berge and Low Carbon Initiative Assistant Director Sammy Su. Mayor Cheng will share plans and introduce business opportunities related to the development of TTIA and the greater Taoyuan area, after which a round-table lunch will be held where members can raise questions or discuss issues of concern. A full delegation of Taoyuan City Government officials will be present and seated among members at the event.

Among other subjects, members will be able to raise and discuss the following subjects:

- Public procurement and major infrastructure projects in Taoyuan City including TTIA's Terminal 3, third runway and the Taoyuan Aerotropolis.
- Public transport infrastructure development plans including the airport MRT, light rail, electric vehicles, roads and highways.
- Quality of living issues (air, noise and environmental pollution), traffic safety, emergency response facilities and fire and flood prevention plans.
- Plans for intelligent infrastructure including green buildings and smart grid technology.
