In the 2024 presidential and legislative elections, three major parties will be in contention for the office of president and 113 legislative seats in the Legislative Yuan: the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP), the Kuomintang (KMT) and the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP). The TPP will be fielding its chairman, Ko Wen-je as presidential candidate as well as contesting multiple seats in the legislative elections. As the Taiwan’s 2024 election campaign goes into full swing, we have invited the TPP chairman to present his major policy priorities and to answer questions from interested members.

Among other topics, the speaker will discuss how he plans to advance Taiwan’s future economic development, boost social security, healthcare, environmental sustainability and national defence.

About the speaker
Dr Ko Wen-je is the founder and chairman of the Taiwan People’s Party (TPP) and a candidate for Taiwan’s presidential election in 2024. From 2014-2022 he served two terms as mayor of Taipei City. Prior to this he was an attending physician and Chairman of the Department of Traumatology at National Taiwan University Hospital. He was also a professor at National Taiwan University College of Medicine specialising in trauma, intensive care and organ transplants. He received both his medical degree and medical doctorate from National Taiwan University.
