Taiwan has weathered the coronavirus pandemic relatively well. This means that Taiwan’s economy is ideally positioned to move beyond emergency survival measures to focus on developing innovative new sectors. The National Development Council (NDC) is in the process of drawing up a national development road map for the next four years of President Tsai Ing-wen’s second term. At this event our guest speaker will give a summary of the main aspects of the roadmap and the expected benefits for business.

About the speaker
Dr Kung Ming-hsin has been the minister of the National Development Council since 20 May 2020. He has held numerous positions in academia and government, beginning as Adjunct Assistant Professor at Tamkang University and moving on to work as Deputy Executive Secretary of the Industrial Development Advisory Council under the Ministry of Economic Affairs. He later worked as a Research Fellow for the Science and Technology Advisory Group under the Executive Yuan and for the Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, where he later served as Vice President. He has also served on the Advisory Committee of the Mainland Affairs Council and as a Member of the National Stabilization Fund Management Committee. In 2016 he was promoted to Deputy Minister of the National Development Council and later served as Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs. Immediately prior to his current position he served as Minister without Portfolio. Dr Kung holds a PhD in economics from National Chung Hsing University.
