Following his victory in the municipal election on 26 November 2022, Chiang Wan-An (蔣萬安) has taken office as mayor of Taipei City. At this exclusive lunch for ECCT members, Mayor Chiang will continue what has become an annual tradition for the ECCT to hold a Premium Event lunch with the Taipei City Government (TCG) for the 25th year. As in previous years, this year’s event will provide an opportunity for ECCT members to raise questions or discuss issues of concern or mutual interest with the mayor and a full delegation of senior TCG cabinet officials, who will be in attendance.
At the event, Mayor Chiang will give a speech to unveil his vision for Taipei City for the next four years, including his policy priorities. This will be followed with a Q&A session with Mayor Chiang, moderated by Tim Berge, Co-chair of the ECCT’s Better Living committee.
Elected to the Legislature in 2016, Chiang Wan-An was one of only seven KMT lawmakers to vote in favour of legalizing same-sex marriage in Taiwan in 2019. During his election campaign Chiang proposed providing financial support to new parents and expanding access to social housing to reverse Taipei's population decline.
