The Piemonte region sits in the north-west of Italy and at the foot of the Western Alps where its name comes from – the foot of the mountain. The advantages of good climate and geographical conditions allow the Piemonte region to produce more DOCG wines (the quality assurance label for Italian wines) than any other wine region in Italy. Apart from the prestigious red wine collections, such as Barolo and Barbaresco, using indigenous grape varieties, Piemonte also produces several renowned white wines such as the Moscato d'Asti.
About Assaporando Bar Italiano
Good food takes time to prepare and should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace in the company of good friends. This is the spirit of the "slow food" movement, a grassroots organization, originally founded in Italy in 1986 that has since spread worldwide. Promoted as an alternative to fast food, it strives to preserve traditional and regional cuisine and encourages the farming of plants, seeds and livestock that are characteristic of the local ecosystem. Assaporando Bar Italiano has been a strong proponent of the "slow food" philosophy for many years. The venue was created to provide a space for people who already love Italian food, wine and culture and to promote Italian food and drink culture to people not familiar with it.
Assaporando Bar Italiano serves authentic Italian aperitifs, wine, coffee and desserts. It aims to become "The Grappa Museum in Asia" by collecting varieties of this iconic Italian beverage.
The evening will be hosted by Mr Nelson Wei, the owner of Assaporando Bar Italiano, who holds a Master's degree from the University of Gastronomic Sciences and is dedicated to promoting the slow food movement in Taiwan.
