Michael Page Salary & Employment Forecast
Launch of 2013 market outlook report for Taiwan
in association with the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan
Guest speakers
Dan Chavasse, Regional Managing Director, North Asia, Michael Page
Tony Phoo, Economist, Global Market Research, Standard Chartered Bank (Taiwan) Ltd.
Recruitment activity in Taiwan experienced a slow start in 2012 due to negative sentiment around the strength of the domestic economy, particularly given the country's position as an export-driven economy. With major trading partners China, Japan, the United States and the Eurozone region all under pressure during 2012, there was a direct impact on Taiwan's economy and subsequent hiring activity. However, hiring intentions picked up in the second half of the year as many multinational organisations with business in Taiwan began to adjust and realign their workforces to take advantage of an expected economic upturn in mid-2013.
At this special lunch Dan Chavasse will present the inaugural Michael Page Salary & Employment Forecast for Taiwan, presented in association with the ECCT, covering an outlook of the domestic recruitment market in 2013 across the full range of sectors including retail, financial services and technology.
The Michael Page Salary & Employment Forecast is a key recruitment industry report that has been released annually to the market in a number of Asia Pacific countries for more than five years. The report is based on both quantitative and qualitative research, with findings derived via a survey of employers and insights obtained through the business's significant involvement in the professional employment market. The Michael Page Salary & Employment Forecast is currently produced for Taiwan, China, Hong Kong, Singapore, India, Australia and New Zealand.
Also at the lunch, Tony Phoo from Standard Chartered Bank will give a presentation on the bank's forecasts and sentiment for 2013 in Taiwan, the implications for the wider economy and how this will impact business.
