Compliance implies being in conformity with all laws, rules and regulations relevant for a particular business where they do business and the related internal policies and guidelines. Compliance is the basic precondition of every sustainable business activity. At Daimler, the Compliance Department focuses on corruption prevention, fraud, anti-money laundering, sanctions and terror lists. Daimler's compliance programme has evolved over the past decade into a comprehensive and robust system.

About the speaker

William Hu is the Compliance Officer for the Daimler Group in Greater China. In this role, he leads a team of professionals in managing compliance-related matters in the Greater China region. Such matters include third-party vetting, compliance in M&A projects, implementation of compliance in non-controlled shareholdings, critical transactions/activities review and consultation, compliance risk identification, mitigation plan design and follow-up, whistleblower and internal investigations, HR-related compliance management and training, among other areas. Prior to assuming his current position in May 2012, Hu was the Compliance Officer for Dell's North Asia region. He holds a Master of Law degree from Peking University. He is a qualified PRC lawyer and has served at state-owned enterprises and multi-national companies as an in-house counsel.
