The City of London regards green finance as prudent, profitable and one of the best tools available in the race to cut carbon. This is why, in January 2016, the Green Finance Initiative was launched in partnership with government. The initiative brings together international expertise from across the financial and professional services sector and provides leadership on green finance, advocates for regulatory and policy proposals that enhance the green finance sector worldwide, and promotes London as the leading global centre for the provision of green finance and professional services.

At this event our guest speaker will introduce the work that the Green Finance Initiative has done to promote investment in renewable energy including the UK's project financing offer, the role that capital markets have played and how other investment vehicles such as bonds and funds have also helped with bringing much needed investment into green projects.

In her capacity as the City of London Corporation's Special Adviser for Asia, Sherry Madera leads the City of London's policy and trade & investment strategy for Asia. She works closely with the UK government and regulators and stakeholders in financial and professional services to create sustainable links with Asia. She engages with policy leads in foreign jurisdictions to promote and enhance London's position as a global financial capital.
