Ever since the global Covid-19 pandemic, the question of supply chain resilience has become a critical concern of governments and corporations globally. Governments are especially concerned about how shortages of critical commodities, goods and components will affect their ability to sustain domestic populations and the overall economy while corporations are focused on increasing the diversity of sources, production facilities and markets to prepare them for various forms of disruption. In this environment, there is a risk that policy responses aimed at increasing resilience could have unintended consequences that disrupt functioning markets or otherwise negatively affect normal business operations. For this reason, it is critical for companies to be able to give their input to help governments to devise polices that enable rather than hinder businesses. This includes Taiwanese companies looking to diversify operations into Europe and maintaining resilience along intra-Asia and US trade lanes. This event will discuss the need for trade diversification between Europe and Taiwan as part of an overall effort to build supply chain resilience for Taiwanese companies.
