In order to create a tax-friendly environment for Taiwan to become a logistics centre in Asia and to attract more foreign companies using ports and airport infrastructure in Taiwan for logistics and relevant processing services, the Ministry of Finance issued a tax ruling in April 2018. This new tax ruling aims to simplify and to provide more rationale for determining Taiwan-sourced income of foreign companies which conduct importation, storage, processing and transporting goods manufactured by themselves or through purchases abroad which are then shipped to domestic and foreign customers. The new tax ruling is expected to provide more guidance on how to calculate tax costs and, to a certain extent, reduce the tax burden.
This event has been arranged to help companies to better understand how to apply the new rules. Among other topics our guest speakers will discuss the following in their presentations:
- Latest business model leveraging the Free Trade Zone (Wang Yu-Ming)
- Outlook on relevant tax treatment about logistics operating models of foreign enterprises (Sung Hsiu-ling)
- A brief introduction of FTZ mechanisms of neighbouring countries from a tax incentive perspective – Lynn Chen
