As the number of patients infected by the coronavirus continues to rise globally, there are growing concerns over the ability of healthcare services to cope. Healthcare authorities in the worst-hit countries are concerned about a shortage of personal protective gear for healthcare workers and equipment such as ventilators for patients. At this event, our guest speakers will engage in an online panel discussion about the role and use of ventilators and what companies, hospitals, healthcare authorities and other government agencies are doing to meet the current surge in demand both in Europe and Taiwan.
Lin Hui-ling Lin, Associate Professor and Secretary-General of the Respiratory Therapists Society of the Republic of China, will give a brief introduction to the various instances when ventilators are used in Taiwan, and how resources are integrated and distributed to meet rising medical demands.
Anic Liu, Clinical Application Specialist for Philips Healthcare, will talk about the types and functions of ventilators and compare the market needs in Taiwan versus European countries.
Dr Lin Chii-wan, Vice President and General Director, Biomedical Technology and Device Research Laboratories, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), will talk about technical exchanges and cooperation with foreign companies regarding ventilators.
