Introduction:
The European Innovation Week in Taipei is the umbrella of a series of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) focused events (seminars, workshops, b2b and clusters matchmaking). It is organised by the European Commission in cooperation with Silicon Europe Worldwide and the European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP) and key partners in Taiwan related to ICT, both from competent government agencies and research institutes
B2B, B2C and C2C (C as clusters) matchmaking meetings will be organised between the European Delegation's companies and cluster members and Taiwanese companies and clusters registered for the event. The meetings will be organised through the Enterprise Europe Network (EEN) platform – a network of around 600 business support organisations from more than 60 countries, which helps SME's realise business opportunities in the EU. Taiwan has been an EEN member since 2015 through a consortium comprising TAITRA, ITRI, TEEMA, NarLabs and the ECCT.
The European Innovation Week falls under the European Commission's top priority of driving economic growth by fostering innovation and, in particular, the SME's innovation capacity and their ability to compete on a global scale. Strengthening the EU's global position in the ICT sector is a core objective of Europe 2020's strategy as the importance of the ICT sector for European economies has been increasingly recognised as a major vehicle to enhance productivity and value-added.
The organisers of the European Innovation Week are the European Commission in coordination with the Silicon Europe Worldwide, European Cluster Collaboration Platform (ECCP), the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Department of Industrial Technology (DOIT), Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA), the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI), the European Chamber of Commerce Taiwan (ECCT), the European Business and Regulatory Cooperation programme (EBRC), and the GNSS.asia project. The activities are supported by the Taiwan Computer Association (TCA), the Taiwan Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association (TEEMA), the Taiwan Design Center (TDC), German Trade Office Taipei (GTO) and the EU's Horizon2020 Programme.
