Event Introduction : With the support of Taiwanese authorities, the EU and Taiwan have been holding seminars on food safety annually in recent years to provide a platform for government officials, industry and academic representatives from both sides to facilitate exchanges on relevant issues. In recent years there were several cases of food safety crises in both Taiwan and European countries. To strengthen bilateral policy exchange and experience sharing on food risk management, to assist industries to establish self-regulation systems, and to reinforce public confidence in food safety, the European Economic and Trade Office (EETO), under the framework of the European Business and Regulatory Cooperation Programme (EBRC), the Food Safety Office, Executive Yuan, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) and the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA) are jointly organising this seminar on 22 June 2015.
The seminar will bring together government officials and experts from both the EU and Taiwan to share experience on food risk management. The speakers will cover the general principles of food risk management and how to strengthen food safety networks through the establishment and execution of policies. In the second session, the food traceability system and Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) will be introduced in order to reinforce consumer confidence in food safety and companies.
