New car sales in Taiwan rose 12% year on year in 2014 to reach a nine-year high of 423,829 units. Sales of imported cars accounted for 32% of market share as unit sales of European brands Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Volkswagen, Audi, and Volvo hit record levels. What is the outlook for the rest of 2015 and 2016? Will growth continue? Will the market share of imported cars continue to increase? What factors will influence the local auto market? What impact will oil prices have on the development of alternative energy vehicles? At this special event hosted by the ECCT's Automotive committee our special guest speaker will provide a comprehensive analysis of Taiwan's current automotive market and offer insights on future prospects. Among subjects on the agenda, her presentation will cover the following:
- Global auto market trends with a focus on Taiwan and how the local market differs from other regional markets in Asia.
- An analysis of Taiwan's vehicle market including a review of overall sales, the breakdown by brand (especially European vs Japanese brands) and domestically-produced vs imported cars.
- Future industrial policies that may have an impact on the auto market.
- Analysis of the demand for hybrids and other new energy vehicles.
This event will provide an excellent opportunity for members, particularly those in the Automotive and financial services committees as well as members who are interested in the development of Taiwan's automotive market to meet and discuss trends, opportunities or concerns.
