At this event, our guest speaker will provide insights from PwC's Annual Global CEO Survey and international tax trends. PwC's Annual Global CEO Survey, now in its nineteenth year, aims to inform and stimulate the debate on how businesses are facing today's challenges. This year's survey is based on responses from 1,322 CEOs in 77 countries, including 19 CEOs based in Taiwan and surveys of 102 listed companies in Taiwan.

In addition, the speaker will examine the implications for tax payers and multinational corporations (MNCs) of the leaking of over 11 million confidential documents produced by Panamanian law firm Mossack Fonseca. The so-called Panama Papers illustrate how wealthy individuals, including public officials, can hide assets from public scrutiny. The papers reveal information about 214,000 companies and have implicated at least five heads of state and numerous government officials in more than 40 countries.

Among other subjects, the following international tax trends will be addressed:

  • The impact of the Panama Papers and the growing global call for greater transparency
  • The global ethical debate around tax
  • The changing legislative and regulatory situation
  • How to deal with increased regulatory challenges such as ensuring independence, strict separation of audit and consulting services and Base Erosion Profit Shifting (BEPS)
