The "International Fiscal Affairs Department", under the Ministry of Finance (MoF) was formed on 1 January 2013 to consolidate personnel and functions formerly under the Tax Agency, the MoF and Taiwan Customs. Since then Taiwan has concluded tax treaties with several additional countries while OECD countries have increased cooperation aimed at eliminating tax avoidance. At this event, our special guest speaker will provide an update on recent tax developments internationally and in Taiwan. Among subjects on the agenda, her presentation will cover the following:
- Recent progress made in expanding the treaty network of Taiwan and high-level overview of the new treaties.
- How to utilize the tax treaty network to respond to the new rules established by the OECD's Base Erosion and Profit Shifting (BEPS) action plans.
- Other updates on the operations of the International Fiscal Affairs Department (國際財政司) that members should be aware of.

About the speaker
Sung Hsiu-ling is an expert in tax administration. Prior to her current position as the Director General of the International Fiscal Affairs Department in the MoF, she played an important role as Director of the MoF's Taxation Agency. She received her Master's Degree in Public Finance from National Chengchi University.
