The number of tourists visiting Taiwan is expected to reach a record level of over 10 million in 2015. While the rapid rise in tourism over the past 10 years has been widely welcomed, there is a general consensus on the part of government agencies and industry players that Taiwan's current capacity to support further tourism arrivals has reached a limit and that the focus of future tourism development should be on quality rather than quantity. Rather than simply increasing numbers, the strategy should be focused on increasing the average spending by tourists, which would support a more sustained development of the tourism industry. In this regard, the Tourism Bureau has devised an action plan that will be implemented from 2015 to 2018 based on quantity and quality optimization as well as value enhancement.
At this special event, our guest speaker will provide an overview of the Tourism Bureau's action plans and strategy to optimize Taiwan's potential as an innovative and attractive tourist destination. Among other topics, he will give details of the four main areas of focus of the strategy, namely:
*Quality Tourism: Pursuing quality tourism services to increase the added value of the tourism industry
*Feature Tourism: Marketing cross-area feature spotlights as well as diverse and innovative products in the global tourism market
*Smart Tourism: Providing complete and smart tourism services to offer value-added applications for the tourism industry
*Sustainable Tourism: Providing green tours and caring tourism services.
