"Lead in electric drive and car software" is a major pillar of the sustainable corporate strategy at Mercedes-Benz. The company wants to take the lead when it comes to electrification and vehicle software – by offering its customers an intuitive, luxurious, and finally CO2-neutral driving experience. For Mercedes-Benz, sustainability is a guiding principle; it is the basis for the transformation of the company and for all its business activities along the entire value chain.

In this webinar, the guest speaker will talk about how technology and innovation will help it to shape a better, more sustainable future. Besides its own development, production and products, the company is also looking at its supply chains together with its partners.

Arranged by the European Chamber of Commerce in Korea (ECCK), this webinar has been opened to all members of the European Business Organisation Worldwide Network (EBOWWN), which includes the ECCT.

About the speaker

Markus Scäfer is a Member of the Board of Management of Daimler AG and Mercedes-Benz AG. As a board member of Daimler AG, he is responsible for Group Research and, as of 1 April 2020, Mercedes-Benz Cars Chief Operating Officer. In this function, he controls the holistic value creation process of Mercedes-Benz Cars -- from development to procurement and supplier quality to production.

He was born on 11 May 1965 in Weidenau, Germany. After obtaining the University entrance diploma (Abitur) he started his studies of Mechanical Engineering at the Technical University in Darmstadt and finished with a Diplom-Ingenieur (former German equivalent to a master’s degree) in 1990. He joined the then Daimler-Benz AG as a trainee within the International Management Associate Programme in November 1990.
