Geopolitical tensions, the coronavirus pandemic, and disruptions to global supply chains over the past two years have highlighted the need for Taiwan to accelerate the pace of internationalisation and diversification and create new public private partnership opportunities for Taiwan's economy. The government’s role is to create an enabling regulatory environment that enhances innovation, international competitiveness and attracts foreign investment. President Tsai has said that the quality of a country’s investment environment is closely related to integrity, which is why Taiwan’s government continues to focus on creating a clean government in order to elevate the attractiveness of Taiwan’s investment environment.

In recent years, the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) has been striving to help build a clean, competent, honest, open, and transparent government that offers high quality public services.

Through organising foreign business and enterprise integrity forums, upgrading the protection of trade secrets, establishing cross-domain integrity platforms and promoting legislation such as the Whistleblower Protection Act, the MOJ continues to communicate and cooperate with the business community and international chambers of commerce to promote corporate integrity and compliance, while strengthening the fairness, openness and transparency of public agencies, so as to assist corporations to invest with confidence and achieve sustainable development.

At this event, our speaker will give an overview of the MOJ’s efforts to promote clean government and business integrity, including rooting out corruption, corporate espionage, and related crimes.

Following his presentation, Minister Tsai will engage in an interactive Q&A with other panellists on how to enhance cooperation with Europe to further improve the integrity of Taiwan’s government and business environment.

About the speaker
• Tsai Ching-hsiang has been the Minister of the Ministry of Justice (MOJ) since 2018.
• Among his previous positions are the following:
  •  Director General, Investigation Bureau, Ministry of Justice
  •  Head Prosecutor and Prosecutor, Supreme Prosecutors Office
  •  President, Academy for the Judiciary, Ministry of Justice
  • Vice Minister and Chief Secretary, Ministry of Justice
  • Director and Deputy Director, Department of Prosecutorial Affairs, Ministry of Justice
  • Chief Prosecutor of Shilin, Taoyuan, Keelung, Miaoli, and Kinmen District Prosecutors Offices.
• He holds an LLB from Soochow University, an LLM from Chinese Culture University and an EMBA from National Taiwan University and has been a Visiting Scholar at the law school of Harvard University.
