While the global coronavirus pandemic has had a severe impact on the travel and hospitality sectors, the surge in demand for goods and services catering to remote working, pandemic prevention and related services has led to booming business for companies producing electronic goods and components, and those providing transport, logistics and delivery services. As Taoyuan is home to Taiwan’s largest airport and logistics operations, as well as numerous industry hubs and the city, the city has become a magnet for new investment and talent. It is also a pioneer in trialling smart solutions for eco-mobility and eco-logistics.
At this event, our guest of honour will give a presentation on business opportunities related to the upgrading and development of industries in the greater Taoyuan area, especially in the fields of eco-logistics and eco-mobility. He will also talk about the city’s education and talent development initiatives, recent measures to ensure equal treatment and benefits to foreign residents in Taoyuan and give an update on the city's ongoing Covid-19 prevention measures.
After the presentation, a Q&A session will be held, moderated by co-chair of the ECCT's Better Living committee, Tim Berge, where members can raise questions or discuss issues of concern. The lunch will be followed by a tour of Zuellig Pharma (see details below).
This event has been arranged as part of the ECCT's ongoing cooperation with the Taoyuan City Government and Mayor Cheng, following several meetings this year, and joint organisation of events including the Sustainable City Forum in March, which was the forum for the release of the 2021 Smart Solutions Report: Eco-Mobility & Eco-Logistics by the Taoyuan City Government together with the ECCT's Low Carbon Initiative (LCI), the International Climate Development Institution (ICDI), and ICLEI Local Governments for Sustainability.
