Not long ago, The Economist called Taiwan “the most dangerous place on earth." China's continued military modernization and regular operations in the air and seas around Taiwan, a steadily tougher line towards Beijing on the part of the United States, and the clear desire of a majority of people on Taiwan to remain separate from the People's Republic, have created an increasingly volatile situation. Former CNN Senior Asia Correspondent Mike Chinoy will assess the risks of armed conflict over Taiwan.

Chinoy is the author of five books: China Live: People Power and the Television Revolution, Meltdown: The Inside Story of the North Korean Nuclear Crisis, The Last POW, Are You With Me?
