Taiwan’s wind energy sector is at a critical juncture. While over 300 turbines are now operational in the Taiwan Strait, progress in the next stage of development has slowed. If Taiwan is to meet its ambitious targets for 13GW of wind energy by 2030, a number of challenges will need to be addressed.

This event offers a timely opportunity to explore the latest prospects and challenges facing Taiwan’s offshore wind energy development. With expertise in energy policy, industrial safety, and environmental protection, our guest speaker plays a key role in Taiwan's energy policy advancements. At the event, he will share insights on upcoming policies and strategies that are set to shape Taiwan’s renewable energy landscape in 2025 and beyond. Join us to gain valuable perspectives and to discuss the future of Taiwan’s energy independence and sustainability.

About the speaker
Yu Cheng-Wei currently serves as the Director General of the Energy Administration under Taiwan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs (MOEA). With a strong background in energy policy and sustainable development, he has been a driving force in advancing Taiwan’s green energy agenda, particularly in offshore wind and other forms of renewable energy. He holds a PhD in architecture and urban design from Chinese Culture University and a master’s degree in urban planning from National Cheng Kung University. Prior to his current role he was the Deputy Director-General and Secretary-General of the Industrial Development Bureau (now Industrial Development Administration) and Executive Chief of the Environmental Protection Center of Industrial Parks.
