"Pursuit of truth through exhaustive reasoning" is NCKU’s motto, and the school features a very down-to-earth academic climate conducive to the steadfast pursuit of knowledge and truth. Since its inception, NCKU has undergone tremendous transformation and growth. Today the school comprises ten colleges: Engineering, Management, Liberal Arts, Sciences, Medicine, Social Sciences, Electrical Engineering and Computer Science, Planning and Design, and Bioscience and Biotechnology, X-college, with 43 undergraduate programs, 36 independent graduate institutes, and 9 degree programs, making the school the most academically comprehensive research university in Taiwan.

NCKU - with its solid research strengths and numerous research achievements – therefore willing to shoulder more social responsibilities in order to promote advancement in industry ecosystem and assist governmental policy development, and help bring in green energy for sustainable developments.

According to the Impact Ranking 2020 released by the Times Higher Education (THE) magazine on April 22, NCKU was ranked 38th in the world and 2nd in Asia.
