The European Economic and Trade Office is the representative office of the EU in Taiwan, and was officially opened in July 2003. The key activities of this office are the promotion of healthy trading relationships between the EU and Taiwan. Since Taiwan has become a member of the World Trade Organization (WTO), we monitor key WTO commitments and offer advice on implementing international standards. Our office is responsible for publicising, explaining and implementing EU policy and analysing the policies of Taiwan. We provide information to the media in Taiwan on all EU policies and institutions. We encourage students to study in the EU, and more generally promote cooperation between higher education institutions in the EU and Taiwan, in particular through the ERASMUS + programme. We also actively promote cooperation in the field of research with Taiwanese partners.
