HSBC Bank (Taiwan) Limited started operations in Taiwan on 1 May 2010 as a locally incorporated entity of The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited. The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited is the founding member of the HSBC Group, which is headquartered in London.

The current network of HSBC (Taiwan) comprises 30 outlets including 20 branches in the Great Taipei area.

HSBC‘s presence in Taiwan dates back to 1885 when The Hongkong and Shanghai Banking Corporation Limited appointed an agent in Tamsui. A full-service branch was established in Taipei in 1984 and the business has expanded through a combination of acquisition and organic growth to become one of the leading financial services groups in Taiwan.
