Chinese International Economic Cooperation Association (also known as CIECA) was founded by the late Dr. Jeffrey L. S. Koo on August 9, 2000 to promote international economic cooperation through collaboration of R.O.C. businessmen and private business organizations with their counterparts in foreign countries.
Work Program
The major activities of its work program are as follows:
1. Maintain close contact and liaison with domestic and foreign business leaders and enterprises to develop bilateral and multilateral economic and trade ties.
2. Collect up-to-date international business information as a basis for making recommendations to the government for policy decisions in economic matters.
3. Provide consultative advice to the government over economic and trade issues and, upon the request of the government, undertake research in economic affairs.
4. Promote exchange of visits for businessmen between Taiwan and other countries and help settle disputes in trade and other economic activities with other countries.
5. Perform other activities relevant to the promotion of international economic cooperation.
6. Promote the signing of economic cooperation agreements between Taiwan and other countries or economic groups
Goal
CIECA maintains cooperative relations with trade organizations and chambers of industry and commerce in countries covering Europe, Asia-Oceania, Africa, America and Middle East. Its goal is to promote bilateral trade, foreign investments, strategic alliances, technology transfers, and substantive relations.
Our organization
The supreme authority of CIECA is vested in the General Assembly of all members. Under the General Assembly is the Board of Directors composed of 35 Directors, 11 of whom are Executive Directors. There are 11 Supervisors, 3 of whom are Executive Board Supervisors. Our Chairman of the Board is Mr. Chung-Yu Wang. The three Vice-Chairmen are Dr. Han-Sun Chien, Mr. Fred P. C. Huang, and Mr. Jeffrey Koo, Jr. Dr. Steve Hsieh is the Convener of the Board of Supervisors. The Secretary General, Mr. Leon C. L. Lee, manages the day-to-day operation of CIECA.
Since its founding, CIECA has set up the Bilateral Economic Cooperation Committee, which consists of prominent business leaders and renowned experts well experienced in international affairs to preside over bilateral economic cooperation conferences and relevant activities with foreign counterparts. Currently, CIECA maintains friendly and cooperative relationships with 138 counterpart organizations from 96 countries. On average, CIECA organizes about 45 bilateral joint business council meetings either at home or abroad with its foreign counterparts each year.
