New Taipei City announces new benefits for seniors

The New Taipei City Government has announced new benefits for senior and disabled residents, including foreigners with permanent residence certificates. Over 65s are entitled to apply for a "Senior Love Card", which provides 480 points (1 point = NT$1) per person per month to be used on buses, the metro and trains within the Taipei, New Taipei, Keelung area (as well as the Taoyuan Airport MRT line), with a maximum subsidy of 30 points per trip. In addition, residents taking a taxi that has joined the "New Taipei Senior Love Taxi Fleet" can get a maximum subsidy of 65 points per trip. This represents a further breakthrough for the ECCT’s Better Living committee, which has consistently advocated for equal benefits for foreign residents in Taiwan, starting with permanent foreign residents.
