DONG Energy, member of LCI, will be changing name to Orsted from 6 November 2017.

DONG, originally short for Danish Oil and Natural Gas. Having divested its oil and gas business and decided to phase out coal, Orsted has been chosen to reflect its transformation to a company fully dedicated to green energy.

Orsted is named after the Danish scientist Hans Christian Orsted. In 1820, he discovered electromagnetism, which helped lay the foundation for the way the company produces power today.

Going forward, Orsted will be fully committed to renewable energy solutions. Orsted will continue to invest in offshore wind, bioenergy, energy storage and innovative customer solutions as essential elements in the energy transformation.
